The Pike Valley Farm Story

IN 1973, Winston Pike, Sr. moved his young family to Garrard County, Kentucky, where he purchased land on Herrington Lake that had served as a summer camp. He started a small garden and a large U-pick strawberry patch. His son, Winston Pike Jr., who raised hogs to earn money for college, eventually bought the land and began farming in earnest. His dad continues to be a valuable member of the farming effort and enjoys seeing the land and his family thrive.

Oldest son Joshua, along with his wife, Jamie, moved to Pike Valley to join the farming operation as full-time production manager in 2006. Son Daniel and his wife, Kristin, plan to move to the farm in 2010, after completing his enlistment in the U.S. Army. To prepare for the lifestyle they want to offer their family, Daniel and Kristin raise a number of farm animals on their land and spend much time reading and learning more about farming.

Son Mark worked on the farm until he headed off to college, while son Todd and daughter Martina attend secondary and elementary schools. Our preschooler, Jasmine, loves to help collect eggs and go with Mom on deliveries. And now, we're in the international adoption process, hoping for a little girl Jasmine's age to become part of our family.

Each of our children is a treasure, and Pike Valley Farm is an extension of our strong family values. Working together to preserve the positive lifestyle offered by farming as a family is our long held vision, both for future generations of our own family and for yours.
