Having watched Food, Inc. and am reading Omnivore’s Dilemma. My suspicions are confirmed... I shouldn’t have read/watched anything until we had a source for meat! Now, I’m just disgusted (by industrial farming) and grateful (for you) all at the same time. THANK YOU!
Teresa gave us a wonderful tour, way more than anticipated! This tour was perfect for every age of our homeschool group of over fifty people. The best part was getting to know exactly how our food was being raised. Pike Valley Farm isn’t just a name on a label, but a hard-working family committed to raising quality meat/eggs. For those of us who wanted to learn more about this way of “thoughtful” farming, the Pike’s were more than helpful in answering every question we asked. And the meat...WOW! Great flavor at affordable prices.
Your turkeys were a hit! I prepared two turkeys for my family Thanksgiving dinner and everyone at the table loved it. It was neat to have a local turkey for such a special occasion. Thanks!
I love your meat/poultry and eggs - what a blessing to get this! I’m so excited about this...alas...healthier living! Thanks again!
“Wow” was the word I used when I first tasted your chicken that I bought from Whole Foods here in Ohio. It was the only “local” chicken to be found, so I gave it a try. It was by far the best chicken I have ever tasted. I am going to go back in this week and see if I can find other products raised by Pike Valley Farms! Thank you for your hard work and dedication to such a great chicken!
I wanted to take a moment to write you about your products. I have been looking for top quality meats and eggs since I left Europe. I lived in Spain and Germany for several years for my job. When I returned to the US, I got a big wake-up call with the quality of typical meats. I had been spoiled by the way the Europeans raise their animals and produce such excellent meats. I first found your products at Good Foods in Lexington. I have tried everything from the beef to the pork, and of course your chicken. I have been so thrilled with the flavor, the texture, and the way I feel when eating them. What I mean by this is knowing that they are being raised properly makes it even better. Your products are superior to any other that I have tried in the last year, and I will be a customer for as long as you raise it. Thank you sincerely!
This is great news! I am really excited to be working with Pike Valley Farm. New friends in the farming business, this is exactly what we are looking for.
Pike Family, Thank you so much for your hospitality during our farm tour last week. We felt welcome and valued. Our questions were answered with such excitement and passion! We can tell you love what you do and we’re grateful to have farmers like you in Kentucky!
We really, really enjoyed the farm tour. What a gorgeous day it was. Seeing a farm work on such a basic, literally down to earth level was inspiring to say the least. We have a new appreciation for what it means to know where your food comes from and we’re very grateful that the kids had the chance to see your healthy and happy animals. They had a rare opportunity to interact with you and your family and know that it really is possible to buy meat and poultry right here and understand how the animals are treated with respect and love. You’re providing a service that too many people take for granted. The pork chops and beef we took home were wonderful. There is also that great feeling that comes with knowing who raises your food. It changes the whole perception of the meal. We’re looking forward to picking up our turkeys soon! Take care,
Hello Pike Valley Family Farm! I had the pleasure of coming upon your products at Good Foods Market in Lexington about a month ago. I have never had such delicious meat! I enjoy cooking more than ever now! About a week or two ago, my husband took me out to a nice dinner with some friends of ours. We went to Shaker Village in Harrodsburg, KY. Several of us had fried chicken and my husband had another chicken dish. Much of our conversation that night was about the delicious food! We told our friends about the meats we’ve been buying from Good Foods raised by your farm. Keep up the good work, and thank you for all your hard work! It’s worth every penny!
I had some of your wonderful Pike Valley Farm chicken liver pate last weekend at the Weston A. Price conference; that is the best liver I think I’ve ever eaten. We would love to be able to purchase it for our deli in South Carolina.
I’m just writing to thank you and your husband Winston for providing such great meat products to the community. My friends and I are still working through the meat we purchased a few weeks ago and we’ve all been incredibly impressed with the difference in quality and, particularly, taste. We recently decided to cook a dish with store-bought, industrial raised chicken to see if there really was a great difference. Compared to your chicken, the store-bought was almost tasteless, somewhat resembling mushy cardboard. It was astounding. I also cooked the beef short ribs last night for some friends. Again, there is no comparison with store-bought beef!
I’m sure you already have plenty of recipes at your disposal, but in case you would like another I’d like to share with you how we cooked the short ribs, since they turned out so delicious. We had two packages (8 ribs total). It can easily be tailored to suit quantity and taste, so here it is:
We served the rib meat over egg noodles, but there are all kinds of other things you can use. As the sides we had homemade buttermilk biscuits, sauteed green beans, and baked apples (baked in white wine, water and agave nectar). I’m sure we could have eaten everything the same day as cooking, but we didn’t have time to do it all in one day, so that’s why we refrigerated the ribs overnight. Anyway, if you don’t use the recipe, I just wanted to take some time to share with you how pleased we have been thus far and say thank you. We appreciate your dedication to such a good thing. Thank you,
